"Joyce F. Blasi" & "Luci Smith" BBQG Scholarships:

Applications for the 2021 Joyce F. Blasi Scholarship and the Luci Smith Scholarship are now available! Please download the application form here. After downloading, please follow directions carefully!

We are proud to fund annual college scholarships for Bryan/College Station graduating high school seniors!! These scholarships honor Joyce F. Blasi who has sold by far the most donation quilt tickets and Luci Smith founder of the Quilt Guild. These scholarships are awarded to pursue higher education in the visual arts, family life sciences, career tech, or a related field at accredited college or technical school.

Each scholarship is for one year only in the amount of $1,000. In addition, the winners will receive a quilt made by a guild member.

Completed Scholarship Applications (post marked by Monday, March 15, 2020) are to be mailed to:

Winners will be notified by April 15, 2020. We also participate in and support "Go-Texan" of Brazos Valley, a statewide program that raises funds to support college scholarships.

These beautiful quilts were made out of batiks by Ettie Hurst. Norma Reel donated her time & talent by machine quilting both quilts.

The 2016 BBQG $1,000 Scholarship winners: Amber Mocha, Miana Soto & Mae Hansen!

Haille Goodman, a Bryan High School senior, will be studying animation & graphic design through the College of Architecture at Texas A&M this fall. Quilt made by Ettie Hurst & quilted by Norma Reel.
Hannah Hunt, a Bryan Collegiate senior who will attend Austin College to pursue a double major in Art & Mathematics.


The 2015 BBQG $1,000 Scholarship winners: Amber Mocha, Miana Soto & Mae Hansen!

Amber, a College Station High School senior, will be pursuing a degree in music this fall. The quilt was made for her by Jan Madely and quilted by Connie Harrison.

Miana, a Bryan High School senior, will be pursuing a degree in Graphic Art this fall. The quilt was made for her by Jan Madely and quilted by Connie Harrison.

Unfortunately, we do not have a picture of Mae Hansen. She graduated from St. Michael's Episcopal School. She is now an art major at University of Texas/Austin. Her main interest is fiber art. A quilt was made for her by Jan Madely and quilted by Connie Harrison.

The 2014 BBQG $1,000 Scholarship winners: Hannah Moore & Connor Armstrong!

Hannah, an A&M Consolidated High School senior, will be attending Texas A&M this fall. The guild will have a representative at Senior Salute on May 21st to present her with the necessary paperwork, certificate & quilt!

Connor, a home-schooled senior, was present at the May guild meeting to recieve his certificate & quilt! He plans to major in Architecture at Texas A&M in the fall!


The 2013 BBQG $1,000 Scholarship winners: Chanler Alese Havel & Paul Joseph Spelce

They are both A&M Consolidated High School seniors. Unfortunately, no pictures were taken at the presentation of the scholarship.

Chanler has completed several quilts with guidance from her grandmother.

Paul will be attending University of North Texas in the fall. He is undecided about his area of study, however it may be visual arts. Paul has competed at the state level in Skills USA events in photography, cinematography and audio/video.

Ellen B. who will attend UT or Austin Community College. She is our first applicant with a website of her photographs and video work.
Mr. Rene L. from Bryan High. He will be the first in his family to attend college and will go to Sam Houston State or Blinn. He is a very talented artist!

Ying Z., who earned her PhD from A&M University.
She was moving to Canada, where Theresa M. thought a quilt would be very useful!
