RSVP (Retired Seniors Volunteer Program) is a nationwide network of experienced adults who contribute their time and talent to important programs that strengthen their communities. Brazos Valley RSVP is sponsored by the Brazos Valley Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging and is part of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
There are over 300 seniors in Nursing Homes through out the Brazos County, who have no family or friends that visit. Each year, RSVP makes sure there is something for them under the tree, on Christmas Day.
Guild members have been asked in past years, to donate clean, gently used clothing (men and women, all sizes), lap quilts and toiletry items. Cash donations are always apprecited so items that are not donated can be purchased. In 2012, RSVP stuffed over 300 gift bags from a long wish list!
The guild also holds "Work" days, where volunteers make bibs, ditty bags and pocket pouches for wheelchairs or walkers - all for senior citizens!
